Animal Tales Join us at select animal exhibits to hear a story and test your animal imitation skills with a movement activity! Guests can join us at selected animal exhibits for a story time throughout the spring. We’ll read 1 or 2 books and practice our animal imitation skills with a movement challenge related to the animal we’re featuring each week. As the sun sets, stay for our popular Wild Lights lantern festival. Wild Lights entry is included with your Social Lights ticket. Guests will enjoy the happy hour experience first, then the full Wild Lights route will open at 8:00 p.m. You’ll have until 11:30 p.m. to explore the Zoo and take in the lanterns. Tickets include event entry, tasty appetizers, and two drink tickets redeemable for beer, wine, or a specialty cocktail. Additional beverages will be available for purchase. Young Zoologist Practice your observation skills and learn what it takes to be a zoologist. Find our young zoologist stations in the Islands Zone on Thursdays between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. to help us track the behavior of some islands mammals. We’ll work on our observation skills by marking where animals are in the exhibits and what they’re doing. Guests will also be able to test their knowledge by identifying different types of animal scat or tracks. One of our most popular offerings each year – a party, a garden, and a big secret. You’ll come to Yew Dell, hop on a minibus and we’ll whisk you away to one of our favorite private gardens – and you won’t know where we’re going till we get there! Follow our garden staff for a guided tour of the gardens or just sit back and enjoy a glass of wine and a few light snacks in one of the most beautiful spots in town. Note that there are two time slots. 4p-7p is now SOLD OUT, and 5:30p-8:30p still has tickets available. Reserve your ticket now to hold your spot. Please keep in mind that all ticket purchases are final sale. Tickets are non-refundable and non-exchangeable, but do feel free to share your ticket with someone else if something comes up and you can’t make it. All programs and events are rain or shine.
